We are looking for a motivated and talented System Administrator with a strong background in Linux-based environments to add to our team in Hampton, Virginia in support of the Atmospheric Science Data Center at NASA Langley Research Center. Management of the systems will require strong backgrounds on both the software and hardware infrastructures. Direct support to the end users to assist in package installations, training, answering technology related questions will also be required. More detailed descriptions of the job duties include: Management of SuSE and and RedHat Enterprise Linux environments in a large scale environment Preparation and maintenance of documentation Development of shell scripts to automate processes Work with other team members to enable availability and optimal performance of servers Work with other team members to deploy new hardware and software systems Perform backup and recovery services Assist in the resolution of support requests Follow standard operating procedures in the execution of all activities Be available to support 24x7 operations BS/BA in computer related discipline with 4+ years of experience (or equivalent education and experience) Experience with systems management tools such as KickStart, XCAT, Puppet, etc Experience managing Virtual Environments such as RHEV/KVM, VMWARE, etc Experience designing, installing and maintaining network infrastructures Experience working with shared file systems such as GPFS, CVFS, etc Experience managing job schedule software such as PBS and UGE Experience maintaining system backup environments such as TSM, Symantec, Legato, etc Experience with version control software installation and maintainence Experience working within a strict IT process controlled environment Strong organizational skills enabling multitasking within a fast paced environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Good analytical and problem solving skills Must be self motivated and have a desire to learn new technologies US Citizenship is required AMA is an Equal Opportunity Employer
