Position Title: Shop Supervisor, Nuclear Service Center
Area: Hampton, VA
Department: Nuclear Service Center

PURPOSE
Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in welding and machining of work, applying knowledge of welding and machine shop procedures, tool setup and operating techniques and production methods. Able to support, direct and manage the workforce and work area to safely produce customer requirements within budgeted costs.

RESPONSIBILITY
:Directs trade workers engaged in machining and welding of various components, large and small, in the repair and manufacture of pumps of various sizes and orientation.
:Monitor job hours for efficiency and make appropriate changes to ensure on:time delivery.
:Develops and studies schedules and estimates time, cost, and labor estimates for products, services, and/or completion of job assignments.
:Create competitive tact times by product component and communicate these standards to the master scheduler to facilitate on:time shipment of 90:100 to meet customer requirements.
:Research and evaluate the effectiveness of machinery, equipment, and shop procedures, recommending and implementing changes to improve operational efficiency.
:Manage the evaluation, coaching and development of direct reports to support organizational and operational strategy and performance metrics.
:Train and assist others in correcting or preventing deficiencies in the quality of their workmanship.
:Responsible for the Shop Supervisor portions of the quality program.
:Enforce safety policies and set expectations.

PROFILE
Education
Bachelor Degree : Engineering or Business or equivalent education or experience

Experience
Machine shop : 7:10 years
Supervision : 5 years

Knowledge
Knowledgeable of various welding and machine shop procedures, methods and operating techniques. Understanding of ASME section III, section IV, and XIII as well as Nuclear utility requirements for stamped and safety related pumps. Excellent organizational skills, written, verbal communication plus attention to detail. Experience with BAAN or another planning (ERP) software. Training or certification in six sigma, 5S or lean management techniques intended to improve business processes. Proven record of work safety and experience establishing and promoting a safe work environment.
