This is an Independent Contracting Position, therefore you must have the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, as you assure that your responsibilities are completed according to agency standards.

You must have a minimum of 1 year of experience providing direct Outpatient and/or Inpatient Mental Health therapy to at risk populations. This can only include an internship if direct services were provided to clients. You must have knowledge of the DSM V, be knowledgable of differential diagnosing, assessment, and treatment planning.

Required to carry a caseload of at minimum 10 clients weekly.

This position requires you to attend a minimum of 2 Mandatory Meetings monthly. Payment is not received to attend these meetings because your attendance is necessary as you provide services to Inner Circle's clientele. The Hourly Rate does not include paperwork. You must be able to adjust your client schedule accordingly from session to session to assure that paperwork is completed, as documentation is an indirect extension of the client's session.

You must be comfortable using technology as the agency utilizes an electronic health record as it pertains to client files.

Hourly Rate (based on experience):

Licensed: $29 - $33


  • Provide direct service in mental health group and individual therapy.
  • Complete individual treatment care plans, concurrent reviews and other clinical documentation to maintain clinical records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide crisis intervention when needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, staff development and clinical case conferences, when scheduled.
  • Backup other clinical and supervisory staff as requested.
  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism in the treatment setting with clients and with referring agencies, seeking to build and maintain positive professional relationships.
  • Develops and reviews documents, procedures, rules, and regulations pertaining to the medical and/or psychiatric care and treatment of patients.
  • Reviews diagnostic assessments to ensure accuracy and eligibility; provides diagnoses, based on diagnostic assessments, and recommendations.
  • Meets with the Clinical Program Coordinator on an as-needed basis to discuss cases and concerns.
  • Provides crisis intervention on an as-needed basis.
  • Performs other duties as requested.


  • Ability to educate clients and/or community members about mental and behavioral health, or available community resources.
  • Be knowledgeable in using the DSM 5 and differential diagnosis when treating and diagnosing clients.
  • Knowledge & Implementation of therapeutic interviewing methods and techniques; principles and practices related to assessment instruments; the principles and practices of clinical diagnostic activities and various modalities of psychotherapy; crisis intervention techniques.
  • Skilled in implementing creativity and knowledge of non-traditional interventions to be implemented in therapy.
  • Knowledgeable & skillful in developing individualized treatment plans. Effective professional verbal and written skills for communicating client progress, and treatment needs to clients, families, professionals, and employees of the agency.
  • Proficiency in facilitating individual, family, and group therapy sessions. Able to safely de-escalate aggressive clients.
  • Ability to maintain up to date Client Records by conducting chart reviews, skillful in Clinical Documentation, and coordinating multiple tasks efficiently.

This position requires one of the following: Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP) licensed by the Department of Health Profession, Board of Psychology in the state of Virginia; Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensed by the Department of Health Profession, Board of Social Work in the state of Virginia; Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Counseling; Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) licensed by the Virginia Board of Counseling; or an individual who has or will be completing their graduate degree and is working towards licensure under the direct supervision of a licensed professional.

All candidates must have at least two (1) year post-Master’s degree experience providing direct clinical mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults. All licensed professionals must possess a current license in good standing. An individual in this position must be able to work as a team player with an interdisciplinary team of varied professionals. Must be willing to provide both direct service and supervision. Excellent communication and writing skills are necessary.
